Kathmandu University (KU) is an autonomous, not-for-profit, self-funding public institution established by an Act of

Parliament in December 1991. It is an institution of higher learning dedicated to maintaining the standard of academic

excellence in various classical and professional disciplines.  Its mission is to provide quality education for leadership, and

its vision is to become a world-class university devoted to bringing knowledge and technology to the service of mankind.

It is the third oldest university in Nepal, located in Dhulikhel of Kavrepalanchok District, about 30 km east of Kathmandu. It

was established in 1991 with the motto "Quality Education for Leadership". KU operates through its seven schools, and

from campuses in Dhulikhel, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a

variety of fields.

Requirements for Bachelor Admissions: Admissions to Bachelor’s programs are based on competitive admission criteria set by KU. Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject obtained passing marks in the above subjects taken together Standardized National Examination Total credit requirement for Bachelor’s Degree is at least 144 Credits Requirements for Masters Admissions: English Requirement: Entrance:  AIT english Score and/or IELTS of 6.0 or Internet-based TOEFL of 80 Exit: IELTS of 6.0 or AIT English Test of 6.0 Grade: Entrance: minimum grade of B- or 65% Exit: minimum of CGPA 2.75 The Bachelor’s part of the program and the Master’s part of the program will overlap as follows: During semesters 1-7, students will follow Bachelor’s degree courses at KU. During semester 8, after finishing their internships and any required courses, students will begin their Bachelor’s capstone projects at AIT, and credits earned will be transferred to KU for Bachelor’s degree. Semesters 9, 10 & 11 (including intersemester), student will continue the Master’s program in AIT.  The students will follow regular semesters (Aug-Dec; and Jan-Apr), including Inter-semesters (May – July), and if deemed necessary will be given extensions as per AIT policy. Tuition Fees: Bachelor at KU: Nepalese Rs 725,000 Master at AIT: THB 585,000 * * Students with GPA of 3.75 and above are eligible to apply for full or partial scholarship as per AIT regulations. PRE-ADMISSION FORM Offerings: This Unified Program will be minimum of 5.5 years (or 6 years in some special cases upon approval from AIT).  he Bachelor’s Degree will be awarded by KU, while the Master’s Degree will be awarded by AIT.  The degrees will be given after the successful fulfilling the requirements of each institute. Bachelor’s Degree title will be Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) or Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) or Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)
